Gasparilla Music Festival won’t be coming back to Tampa next month.
The annual tradition was set to take over Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park on Feb. 14, 15 and 16. Gasparilla Music Festival had not yet shared a lineup for the event. Instead, organizers took to Instagram on Thursday afternoon to announce a postponement.
“Unfortunately, due to the ongoing financial strain caused by two consecutive years of extreme weather and unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to make this tough choice,” the post reads. “Our priority is to ensure we deliver a festival that meets the high standards we’ve set for our community, artists, and supporters—and rushing isn’t an option.”
David Cox, the festival’s executive director, stated that a weather cancellation in 2023 was the biggest factor in the decision, saying also that “rain last year didn’t help.”
Last year, headliner Lake Street Dive pulled out of the festival shortly before their scheduled appearance, citing illness.
Organizers say they intend to find new dates for the festival. In the meantime, they’ve started the ticket refund process. Fans can expect to hear directly from Gasparilla Music Festival and are encouraged to reach out with questions.
“We remain committed to creating an unforgettable experience for both our audience and the talented musicians we support,” the statement said. “Thank you for your continued support during this challenging time.”
