ACM Award-winning singer-songwriter Greylan James is no stranger to Country radio, having written some of the biggest hits from artists like Jordan Davis (No. 1 “Next Thing You Know”), Kenny Chesney (No. 2 “Happy Does”), Cole Swindell (current No. 5 “Forever To Me”) and more. Today, the rising artist makes his own mark on the airwaves with the impact of his debut single “Wait Til You Have Kids,” spinning on Country radio now.
“Over the past few years, I’ve been blessed enough to hear songs I wrote on Country radio, but since I was a kid, I’ve had a dream in the back of my mind of hearing my own voice on my favorite stations,” said James. “I wrote this song about a saying my mom always used as a reminder to live in the moment. This is one of those surreal moments, so that’s exactly what I’m doing now.”
Written by James and Matt Roy, the Jason Massey and Brock Berryhill-produced tune explores the ways in which priorities and perceptions shift when you become a parent. Country Now raved about the track, crediting it as “a clear demonstration of the rising star’s unique talent for crafting stories that resonate with people.” Country Central backed James’ artistry, stating the single “further solidif[ies] his reputation as one of Nashville’s most likable talents.” Entertainment Focus agreed: “James is well on his way to becoming one of country music’s most sought-after voices and new song ‘Wait Til You Have Kids’ will only solidify that burgeoning reputation.”
After ending 2024 with an ACM Award and BMI Award, the “celebrated songwriter” (Country Now) has well established his place in the writing room. James snagged his first award show wins for co-writing Jordan Davis’ No. 1 hit “Next Thing You Know,” which also landed James a 2023 CMA Award nomination for the same category. Dubbed as “one of country music’s best kept secrets” (Holler), James has earned cuts from some of country music’s biggest stars including Kenny Chesney, Chris Young, Cole Swindell, Darius Rucker, Chris Janson, Bailey Zimmerman, BRELAND and more.
James recently wrapped a 17-date run on Ashley Cooke’s your place Tour, which hit major cities like New York, Chicago and Nashville. The rising star will play at various fairs and festivals throughout the summer. For a full list of tour dates, please visit GreylanJames.com.
