Veio melds alt-rock’s anthemic allure to the exhilarating adventurism of prog metal like few before them.
The roots of Veio – a name taken from an ancient Etruscan city – reach back to the childhood musical collaborations of Cam and Brett Byrd (vocals/guitar and drums respectively). The brothers formed Veio after college, with the lineup completed by bassist Kris Lewis 5 years ago. With the 2017 debut album Infinite Light / Desperate Shadows and tireless touring efforts with the likes of Seether, Tremonti, and RED, the band earned legions of loyal fans. The band’s follow up 2020 album, Vitruvian, saw its first single, “Flare of Defiance,” storm the Billboard Rock Chart and entered Active Rock Radio’s Top 30.
Now a part of the revamped Silent Majority Group (Paramore, Creed, Sevendust), Veio’s music is garnering lofty comparisons to the thoughtful, artsy rock of Tool and A Perfect Circle, along with Thrice’s muscular, ultra-authentic optimism and the technical yet tuneful prog metal of Tesseract and Mastodon.
“We’ve always strived to have a unique sound that a mainstream audience can enjoy while still being mainly influenced by prog and metal bands,” Lewis states. “We hope both sides of the spectrum will enjoy the new music.”
Consistently creating soaring, singable material without compromising their love for odd time signatures and challenging polymeters, Veio displays the single-minded talent, passion, and work ethic to remain a chart fixture for years to come.
