Legendary Comedy Metal Band PSYCHOSTICK has been live streaming their hilarious “Cabin Fever Concerts” every Thursday (on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook) for the past 2 months to help keep people sane during the Spring 2020 shelter-in-place, and fans have enthusiastically turned out with every week. Along with their shows, the band has donated over $9,000 to various charities–a different charity every week–so far to fight COVID-19, and expect to break $10,000 in donations this Thursday, May 14th.
The charities receiving donations include: Project C.U.R.E., CDC Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, International Rescue Committee, Direct Relief, & Center for Disaster Philanthropy COVID-19 Response Fund.
“Perhaps I’m losing my mind, but I’ve laughed harder at certain points during these past 8 streamed performances than I have in years. It’s more casual than a typical concert, it allows for more spontaneous insanity. We’ve been having so much fun being weirdos and messing with our fans in the chat on these streams that it feels as if it’s breaking the unspoken “be scared of everything all the time” rule…. yet there it is, and fans have been saying the most heartfelt and appreciative things to us because of it, that it’s the highlight of their week and it helps them to set down their worries about the world for a little while.” – Josh
“After so many years of computers ruining the lives of all people, we’ve finally found a good use for them: Performing comedy metal music LIVE on the internet! Even better, our amazing, smelly fanbase has helped raise money for tons of charities! Does it get any better than that? NO!” – Rob
“It’s also nice to be able to play some of our old deep cuts from old albums that we’ve never performed live before. Which means I’ve actually had to practice my instrument a lot, which I hear is a good thing to do when you’re a musician.” – Josh
“We’re all so grateful to be able to take comedy metal and SMASH it together with charity. It’s crazy how many people have been coming together online to watch, donate, and make a difference while in their underwear on an easy chair. Computer Technology! The wave of the FUTURE!” – Matty J
“We may not be able to control much right now, but we can control how we choose to act in the face of a tough situation. We choose to play music to try and bring some levity to the world. Our fans choose to join us online, those who can donate have been amazingly generous, and pretty much everyone gets to throw down in the chat pit!” -Alex
