Cardinal Copia brings his band Ghost to Detroit for the Rats! On The Road tour in support of their latest album Prequelle 6:1
A capacity crowd at the Fillmore Detroit received a lavish show May 12 brought to you in part by by local radio staple, WRIF. An incredible two set show performed by Ghost, a stage set so big that there was not enough room to host an opening act. Good for Ghost fans as they got to witness an entire evening of grade A metal performance. The set was an immense church. White marble stairs, stained glass windows, burning incense, and of course a heavy metal band called Ghost. The fans would also be contributing to the mood of the show. Dressed for the part, many were in full costume and character. Regular chanting could be heard leading up to the show. The overall vibe of the venue was nothing but fun. Ghost fans seemingly bond together through the music.
I’ve had the opportunity to see Ghost several times now and can say that the band sounds as good as ever. This was my first time seeing them at my favorite venue, The Fillmore Detroit so my evaluation could be jaded. But this was by far the best performance I have seen to date.
Limited to photographing only the first three songs, I was only able to capture one costume set. There were several costume and stage changes throughout the show. Satisfied with the galleries, I still would have loved to share the changes throughout the show. There are a few bands out there that put up a spectacular visual show that should justify coverage in its entirety. Of course, fans first, and you can not allow press to interfere with their enjoyment of the show. Ghost is definitely one of the bands that people love to see.
